First Presbyterian Church of Chittenango

Service Ministry

Here are several ways in which our church family contributes to a meaningful worship experience.

Volunteers assist the Worship Team by decorating the sanctuary on special occasions.

Welcoming our friends and guests is critical to being a friendly church. We want our members and guests to feel welcome and cherished. For those who enjoy meeting people, this can be a meaningful and fulfilling ministry.

We celebrate communion on the first Sunday of every month and on Maundy Thursday. Several of our members contribute to this ministry by baking the bread, preparing, setting up, serving, putting away the elements and washing the trays after the service. Elders and Deacons assist in serving the elements during the worship service.

Floral arrangements enhance our worship experience by bringing the beauty of God's creation into our sanctuary. To this end we welcome contributions reflecting our gratitude to God for His kindness on the occasion of anniversaries, a return to health or in memory of a loved one. Anyone can be a part of this ministry by contacting the church office.

Rosebuds are placed on the organ to celebrate births.

Our church family is grateful to members of the armed forces, past and present, who have served, or are serving their country, so that we might enjoy the freedoms so unique to our Nation. On the last Sunday of the month, we take a moment during our worship services to remember these men and women by having one of our veterans light candles in their honor.

Our ministry team provides oversight of corporate prayer services such as those conducted on the National Day of Prayer. We also plan special prayer services for healing and particular events.
